Visiting the Woods

Littleheath Woods are in Selsdon, South Croydon. The woods are mostly surrounded by housing but there are entrances on Ingham Road, Foxearth Road, Littleheath Road, Croham Valley Road and along Edgecoombe - the map in The Woods  page shows the location of all the entrances and can be read in conjunction with the Google map below.

Combine your visit to Littleheath Woods with a bit of Selsdon History:

Croydon Council have produced a self guided walk taking in a taste of Littleheath Woods and a snapshot of Selsdon history:

Walking

Both the Vanguard Way and the London Loop pass through Littleheath Woods.

By Car

Parking is available in all of the roads around Littleheath Woods but please note that the top of Ingham Road is very steep and so may not be suitable in wintry conditions. If you are using a SatNav then the postcode CR2 8EL will guide you to the entrance on Foxearth Road.

By Public Transport

The nearest large train station is East Croydon and the nearest tram stop is Addington Village Interchange. You will then need to take either the 433 or 64 bus to get to Littleheath Woods. All are within travelcard Zone 5.

The 433 bus route goes along Farley Road and there are stops in both directions at the junction with Queenhill Road. If you walk along to the end of Queenhill Road and cross over Littleheath Road you will see the steps leading up into the woods.

The 64 bus route also goes along Farley Road and stops at the junction with Queenhill Road. The 64 route goes along Addington Road and stops outside Selsdon Primary School, which is between Foxearth and Ingham Roads. If you are travelling towards New Addington, the 64 also stops opposite Ashen Vale right next to the entrance to Littleheath Woods.

On Horseback

Horse riding is permitted in the woods - there is one bridleway and one permissive bridleway. However, for the safety of riders and other users of the woods, we must insist that horse riders stick to these paths and do not stray into other areas.
